Nikhita Bhandari, physics teacher, is the science department’s literacy champion. She attends literacy meetings and feeds back to the department on initiatives that promote literacy learning across the school not just checking spelling mistakes but providing opportunities for students to:
- include key scientific words in short paragraphs summarising topics
- crosswords
- speak for 1 minute without hesitation, deviation or repetition
