Year 6 follow the Abacus nationally recognised maths scheme to equip them with a solid understanding of the foundations of mathematics. The curriculum covers the four operations, fractions, decimals and percentages, measurement, statistics, shape amongst all the other key elements of the National Curriculum. An individual online account is created for each student to practice these skills through interactive games at home which have been tailored to their needs. Our approach is to engage all students through classroom games (we have fun maths once a week) and problem solving which develops logic reasoning skills. We also run a times table kung-fu belt challenge throughout the year (which is extremely competitive!).
