For the second year running Portland Place is in the top 10% of all schools nationally for progress at A – Level.
Continuing on an upward trend since 2014, Portland Place School celebrates yet another great year for A- Level and GCSE results with an overall pass rate of 96% at A- Level and a high record of 85% of students achieving 5+A*-C grades.
We are also proud to announce that we are in the top 10% of schools nationally for progress at A-Levels. Independent statistical evidence shows that we ‘add significant value,’ often 1 or 2 grades to those predicted by externally administered adaptive testing. The majority of our students secured places at their chosen Universities including a good number into Russell Group Universities (e.g. King’s College London, Exeter, Southampton, Liverpool, York, Warwick) and others into highly regarded specialist arts and media courses.
At GCSE, with all the changes to new grading systems and new examinations designed to be more challenging than previously, we are very pleased that results not only stayed consistent with previous years but improved in a number of areas. It is particularly pleasing that students have made excellent progress, balancing the demands of their academic studies with full participation in our outstanding extra-curricular programme of creative arts and sports.
When asked, our students say that they feel their academic success at Portland Place is a result of their feeling comfortable and valued. There are small class sizes (average 15 in Years 7-11; average 6 in the Sixth Form), with an informal yet highly productive working relationship between students and teachers. This collaborative ethos instils a sense of self-belief in our students, which is undoubtedly the platform for their academic success.
