A Typical Day

Our day runs from 8.45am to 3.45pm with extra-curricular activities continuing until 5pm. The day starts with registration. Groups then attend daily assemblies or perform a music or drama piece. One assembly has a formal spiritual reading.

Lessons begin after assembly. Lower school pupils taking science, art or drama are escorted by teachers to Great Portland Street. One Year Group attends a sport session and the rest attend lessons in Portland Place or Great Portland street.

Pupils bring their own packed lunch and eat in one of the school halls. Many have lunch delivered by a local café with which we have an arrangement. Senior School pupils are allowed out at lunchtime if parents agree. Sixth Formers can leave the building throughout the day.

All pupils receive homework. Lower school pupils are set about 90 minutes homework over three subjects every weekday. In the Senior School this rises to two hours or more as GCSEs approach.

Homework may be done at the school until 5.00 pm, with teachers on hand to give encouragement. Individual departments also hold sessions to help with GCSE coursework.

Pupils keep daily homework diaries. Form teachers check these regularly and parents countersign the diary at the end of each week.
